Period symptoms and control

It is common for women to experience irregular bleeding patterns, or heavier than usual periods, or severe pain with periods. Even though these are common, sometimes there may be causes that require further tests or assessment. There are also many treatment options available, and it would be worth discussing these with one of our doctors to decide what is suitable for you.

Contraception

There is a wide range of different types of contraceptives available on the market. Our doctors will take the time to discuss your health and lifestyle requirements to determine the most suitable option for you. We offer Implanon and Mirena insertion and removal.

Cervical screening

The Cervical Screening (Pap) Test is a 5 yearly test for people aged 25 to 74, and replaced the 2 yearly Pap test in Australia from December 2017. If this is your first time having a Cervical Screening Test, you can be comforted in knowing that the actual procedure will only take 5 minutes out of the whole consultation and we are very happy for you to bring along a family member or friend to be by your side. Our nurse is a registered cervical screening provider. A cervical screening test with our nurse will be bulkbilled.

Breast Examination

Women who have noticed any changes in their breasts (such as a lump or skin changes) are recommended to get it checked by a doctor. Our doctors will first take a thorough history, perform an examination in a sensitive manner and advise you of a diagnosis or arrange further tests or specialist referrals.

Menopause

Menopause occurs on average around the age of 50. Some women can experience it earlier or later. It can cause a lot of physical changes like hot flushes, mood alteration, skin changes, irregular bleeding, weight variation and sleep disturbances. If any of the above symptoms are troublesome, you can seek medical advice from one of our doctors for various treatment options. This would be a good opportunity to have a thorough health check and discuss preventative health.
